Some things about me
PROCESS DRIVEN WITH THE OPTION TO CHANGE THINGS UP
I have traded in a lot of dough to learn a lot about this research methodology and that and for good reason. Stitching together the right string of methods and techniques is something I am getting better at everyday.
I have learnt the hard-way to trust the process and I have not been let down once. I work with a robust toolset of methodologies for research and design and use my judgment in tweaking things as the project evolves.
ITERATIVE DESIGN ALL THE WAY
As a designer in the industry I have learned that a client’s business goals are as important as satisfying the user’s needs. It turns out I am pretty good at finding that football shaped intersection between those two circles. But what it does take is iteration and lots of it, to strike the right balance. I am not afraid to go back to the drawing board over and over.
I have learned over my conversations with clientele and company founders that in the pragmatic world, negotiation and compromise is everything. And everyone is left happier for it.
I LIKE WORDS
I am always looking for things to read and books to hoard. My favorite thing to do during the day is to hunker down and read some nice research papers with a hot cup of coffee. Hit me up if you want book suggestions.
I use fiction books not only for entertainment, though there is that. I also use them for ideas and inspiration and as studies of universal predicaments in human experience. I have also discovered that sci-fi books work fantastically as speculative design fiction— utopian or dystopian
A SUCKER FOR THE ABSURD
I do my best and most creative work when playful, finding inspiration in all kinds of absurdity and sometimes going as far as using random word generators to birth new ideas. That doesn’t mean I don’t initially try to approach every problem in the most linear way possible; but playfulness marks the beginning of the end of my projects. So what, if I end up making a fool of myself sometimes. Oh so many times.
